How Can I Join the Squad?
The development squads are open to any aspiring player who is of Intermediate standard and above.
You can either be put forward by your club or coach.
Who is the Head Coach?
John Welton is the head coach of the Development Squad.
What Happens During a Session?
The sessions are designed to inspire the kids to take their games to the next level and potentially work their way into the county teams.
It is a great way to gain more experience with other coaches but also to train with kids from other clubs and develop many aspects of your game.
Each session is split into 2 groups each 1.5hrs long. 1 session for under 13’s and another for 13years and over.
Where Do the Sessions Take Place?
Sessions currently take place at Workout Harbourside, Floating Harbour, Welshback, BS1 4SB
Are Future Sessions Planned?
Yes.
Sessions run once a month with the next session running on the 17th March.
The next 3 dates will be set after that for April/May/June. Please check the calendar for further announcements.
How Much Does It Cost?
A session costs £7.50 per player
Does the Squad Play Competitive Matches?
Yes we have currently 3 teams competing at under 13/15/17 age groups and we hope to increase this to 4 age groups for the coming season
We also encourage participation in many different tournaments from local to England squash sanctioned events.
How to Help the Squad?
We would like to see funded trips with coaches to neighbouring county’s tournaments to help raise confidence and experience of tournament situations whilst in the presence of county coaches.
