UWE Squash
UWE Squash is not simply a university sports programme, but a bridge between university, Bristol’s local squash community, and international elite squash.
* A pathway from university to world-class squash. UWE Bristol’s Performance Squash programme combines academic study with elite training, strength and conditioning, sports psychology, nutrition and opportunities to train alongside professional players. UWE reports 20 BUCS titles in the past decade and 16 PSA professionals in its programme.
* Mohamed & Marwan ElShorbagy – from Bristol to the top of the world. Both studied and trained within the UWE/Bristol squash environment. Mohamed reached World No.1 and became World Champion, while Marwan reached World No.3. Their success shows that Bristol can provide a genuine base for world-level squash.
* Ng Eain Yow – Bristol’s link with Malaysia. The Malaysian star studied Business Management at UWE and has trained in Bristol since 2019. He became World Junior Champion, reached World No.10, and has continued to use Bristol as an international training base. In 2026, he won Asian Games singles gold and secured qualification for LA28.
